The Oncology Information System is an essential component of the oncology department workflow and administration. From patient scheduling to administration, verification, and recording of treatment – an OIS fully integrated with the particle therapy system is a great asset to the oncology team and process. With records of all the activity of the facility at your fingertips, analysis and reporting is simplified through the use of the OIS. IBA can package the OIS with the overall particle therapy system purchase, or integrate an existing OIS with the new PT system, as our customers require. The OIS communicates with the IBA Particle Therapy system’s TCS or Therapy Control System, sending machine, beam and patient treatment setup instructions and verifying accuracy prior to irradiation.
The Treatment Planning System is of course a vital part of the radiotherapy process, modeling the interaction of beams with the “virtual patient” created with the diagnostic image data sets. IBA can include a suitable TPS with the particle therapy system when this is our customer’s requirement. IBA works with leading manufacturers who support particle therapy planning, and who work closely with IBA to accurately model and exploit the unique characteristics of IBA beam delivery technologies.
