Long time frames, inadequate budgets and various risks are often cited as roadblocks to realizing a Proton Therapy center. IBA Lifebeam® offers a complete turnkey solution based on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Through Lifebeam®, IBA designs, finances, build and operates the Proton Therapy facility that best fits the needs of the public partner, and makes it available to that partner for payment of a periodic rental fee.

Of course, each project and each situation is unique and requires some customized arrangements. However, standard market practice will provide the following:
Land: The land for the facility is made available by the public partner.
Performance risk: The performance risk is taken by the private partner while the revenue risk (also called volume risk) is taken by the public partner.
Guarantee: Payment of the periodic rental fee is guaranteed by a sovereign guarantee or similar coverage.
Transfer: Ownership of the facility is transferred without cost to the public partner after a predefined concession period.
Efficiency: You concentrate your resources on what you do best – treat patients – and you let your private partner do what it does best – build and operate a Proton Therapy facility.
Budget constraints: The PPP structure lets you avoid capital mobilization and/or attempting to secure huge investment budgets during a short time period.
Fair-risk allocation: Based on each partner’s capabilities to manage them, you pay the rental fee only if the facility is available in accordance with a predefined, guaranteed level of performance.
